The Centre will once again be closing for the Christmas holidays. This allows Emily and Liz, the chefs, and Gill and Pam, the Centre managers to have their well-earned holidays, as will the wonderful volunteers. The office and kitchen services will be closed from Monday December 23rd through January 3rd. Consequently, there will be no office services, hot lunch service or frozen entrée sales during this period. Regular office and food Services will resume on Monday, January 6th. Activities, where the back door entrances are made available, may be proceeding as usual. Check for specifics with the co-ordinator of your activity.

Christmas Lunch

The Christmas closure will start after the Christmas buffet lunch, which is to be held in the Auditorium on Friday, December 20th at 12:30pm (doors open at noon). The lunch is an amazing buffet catered by Emily and Liz and their group of tremendous volunteers. The menu runs the gamut of all tastes from traditional turkey dinner through vegan feast. Tickets are on sale for $25 each but limited to 120 diners (members only). There will be door prizes, a 50/50 draw and raffle of valuable gift baskets containing wine, beer and other delights. Proceeds from the 50/50 and raffle will be donated to Sechelt Food Bank. Once again, SSAC will match the proceeds dollar for dollar.

Christmas Drop-ins

Christmas can be a lonely time, without opportunities to see other Centre members due to the closure of SSAC. Richard and some wonderful friends from the Sunshine Coast Rotary Club will be opening the Lounge and Lunchroom for Drop-in sessions with a Christmas vibe. The openings are scheduled to be from 12–4pm on December 23rd, 24th; 27th, 30th & 31st. Look for the Drop-in activity schedule to be posted later in the month. There will be complimentary tea and coffee, and baked goods. All SSAC members are welcome to come to enjoy our Christmas revelries. If you do know someone who will be alone this Christmas, please reach out to them to accompany you to the Drop-in, even if they are not SSAC members. Christmas is an especially difficult time to be on your own.

Volunteers, we need you!

We do have a pressing need for new volunteers, especially able-bodied individuals to help out in the kitchen as dishwashers and servers. If you are interested in this option, go to the office and they will set you up with what you need. Thanks again to all of you serving us now and in the future.
