On September 11, Porpoise Bay Provincial Park hosted an enriching Accessible Nature Well-being Program, tailored for individuals with cognitive challenges. The event was led by Laurette Yelle and Bobbie Seale-Cobiskey, certified guides with EcoWisdom, who specialize in making forest therapy accessible.

The session included an exploration of Forest Bathing’s benefits, followed by poetry readings and a ‘Sound Journey” with instruments like chimes, drums, and cymbals. To bring their connection to life, participants collected natural items such as seashells and mosses to serve as reminders of the day’s experiences.

A special thanks to the Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre, which covered the costs for the bus and lunch, and to Jessica Silvey who offered a special tea ceremony featuring Devils Club. The closing circle gave everyone chance to share a word or gesture, reflecting their renewed connection to nature and each other.

This gathering not only offered a day of relaxation and rediscovery but also demonstrated the profound impact of nature and mindfulness on mental well-being.
