Our Halloween Dance with the Mitch Lazer British Invasion was a smashing success, people had gobs of fun and the dance floor was hoppin’ as always. Thanks piles to the band – Mitch Lazer, Eddy Edrik and Bill Barclay. There were oodles of people dressed in creative costumes.
Prizes were given out for the most cracking costumes! Best couple costume – a $50 gift certificate from the Wobbly Canoe – won by Doug Wright and Andrea Kenor, best female and best male costumes were won by Maria Engler and Dan McWeigh – $25 gift certificates to the Ocean Club Café. There were also 2 spot dances – Nicol Mentis won some Brickers Cider and Shari Cowrie and Andre Columbia won tickets to the next dance. The 50/50 draw of $105.00 was one by Jason Cao. The door prize of two tickets to the next dance was won by Gord Fleming. We hope they’re dead chuffed with their prizes!
We had a great time decorating with all the spooky items which set the stage for the Halloween theme and atmosphere. There were ghouls, carved pumpkins and lots of creepy crawly things.
Again and always, thanks to all the volunteers who are there to set up and help out with the dances.
The upcoming November dance will feature Martini Madness – Kevin Crofton, Graham Walker and Andy Amanovich. Come and dance to the greatest hits of the last 100 years! The music will be an eclectic fun mix of everybody’s favourites and if you’re in the mood – wear your outfit from your most memorable era. (Maybe you can win something). As it’s Martini Madness we will have a few select martinis available at the bar.
December will be a busy month starting out with a Christmas Concert on the 14th. This will be a family event in the afternoon from 2:00 – 5:00. The show will begin with a Christmas Story followed by a puppeteer elf, then the Choralations Children’s Choir followed by the Ukulele Group and finishing the show will be the Celtic Group 2 Thistles and a Rose. Tickets for this show will be $20 for adults with free admission for 2 children under 12 with each ticket. Tickets at the door will be $25.
The New Year’s Eve Gala will feature The Big Creek Band with The Divas. Watch for more information in the December Echo.
